It’s our privilege to share the inspiring story of Elizabeth “Beth” Finizio, a woman whose strength, compassion, and commitment to others shine through in every part of her life.
Earlier this year, Beth made the extraordinary decision to donate her kidney to her husband Mark, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and survivor of the Camp Lejeune water contamination crisis. Their transplant was a rare husband-and-wife match, performed at the Miami Transplant Institute in February 2025. Today, both are doing well, and Beth is already back to running.
This October, just months after surgery, Beth will take on the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., as a Kidney Donor Athletes (KDA)-sponsored athlete. She’s running not just for herself, but to raise awareness about the power of living kidney donation, showing the world that donors go on to live full, healthy, unrestricted lives.
Running with purpose isn’t new for Beth. She’s previously trained and coached with Team in Training to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, raced in support of TAPS (helping families of fallen military service members), and run with DetermiNation to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Beth’s mission is personal, but her impact is far-reaching, a perfect reflection of our work at Finizio Law Group, where we also fight for justice on behalf of Camp Lejeune victims and others exposed to environmental harm.
Please join us in celebrating Beth’s incredible journey. and help us spread the word about the lifesaving potential of living organ donation.
